Health Services Research
Learning from a patient-centered perspective how health care services are organized, delivered, and utilized is pivotal to effectively integrate innovative pharmaceuticals into your specific care context. IGES has a long track-record of designing, developing, and reporting studies related to health services research, as the field has traditionally been one of the core areas of the IGES. We regard the field of health services research as an analysis of health care under day-to-day conditions and thus as complementary to clinical research.
We can advise you on the appropriate quantitative or qualitative methodological approach, guide you to suitable data or even provide you with our own data collection. Project results may be published, for example, in the form of scientific publications, expert opinions and white papers; also, to promote dialogue and debate on conceptual and normative issues related to health and health care. They can also be utilized for internal strategy shaping to allow for key decisions to be based on robust information.
Products
Conceptualization and conduction of health care analyses for specific medical indications and settings based on different quantitative and qualitative data sources (e.g., literature, expert interviews and/or expert workshops) to provide a better understanding of the current health care situation, to identify possible deficits in current health care, and to explore ways to improve healthcare, taking into account the practical perspective of experts.
Conceptualization and conduction of epidemiological analyses (e.g., estimation of prevalence and incidence) and analyses to assess the size of target populations of pharmaceutical products based on different quantitative and qualitative data sources (e.g., health claims data, hospital data, Delphi surveys, literature).
Conceptualization and conduction of studies to assess the clinical and socio-economic burden of disease of specific medical indications (e.g. in terms of comorbidity burden, health care resource utilization, and costs) based on quantitative and qualitative data sources (e.g., health claims data, clinical registries, hospital data, expert interviews or workshops, literature).
Conceptualization and conduction of patient pathways studies for specific medical indications and settings to assess the stages a patient experiences in the management of his or her disease, from pre-diagnosis to palliative care, based on different quantitative and qualitative data sources (e.g., health claims data, clinical registries, expert interviews or workshops, literature).
Conceptualization and conduction of studies to describe treatment patterns (e.g., persistence or switching of drugs) for specific medical indications and settings based on quantitative and qualitative data sources (e.g., health claims data, clinical registries, expert interviews or workshops, literature).
Conceptualization and conduction of studies to estimate the health care resource utilization and associated costs for specific medical indications and settings based on quantitative and qualitative data sources (e.g., health claims data, hospital data, literature).
Conceptualization, development, and conduction of quantitative surveys (e.g., Delphi surveys, large-scale surveys) to provide quantitative data regarding different research questions for specific medical indications or overarching health care issues.
Conceptualization, development, and conduction of qualitative surveys (e.g., individual interviews and focus group discussions) to describe and gain a deep understanding of complex health care issues.
